Greenbush The Southeast Kansas Education Service Center is seeking applications for a Medicaid Clerk I at the Greenbush Main Campus in Girard, KS.

Anticipated Start Date: 07/14/2025.  

Job Summary: Responsible for accurately handling all special education Medicaid claims and ensuring the processing is accurate and timely. Works with a team to accomplish tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required: 

  1. High school diploma or certificate of equivalency.
  2. Computer experience including, but not limited to, spreadsheets, data input, word processing, and scanning.
  3. Observation of strict confidentiality of records. 

Preferred:

  1. Bachelors degree and medical records experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions:

  1. Communicate effectively and professionally using multiple methods, including telephone, email, software platforms, and in person.
  2. Maintain accurate, timely records within department software platforms.
  3. Coordinate with external partners and clients to support timely billing of services.
  4. Maintain accurate data at all levels: student, client, department, and organizational.
  5. Utilize existing technologies to maximize efficiencies.
  6. Maintains a professional relationship with internal and external partners.
  7. Liaison with assigned districts to build a strong working relationship and to quickly address outstanding billing issues.
  8. Demonstrate ability to provide technical support to districts through telephone and video conferencing software.
  9. Analyze reports to determine strategies to maximize reimbursement.
  10. Navigate a tiered technical support system within the department to quickly provide effective client support. Including multiple software platforms and internal staffing processes.
  11. Maintains confidentiality for all aspects of the business as required by HIPAA and FERPA.

General Responsibilities:

  2. Support the mission, goals, and objectives of the SEKESC.
  3. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
  4. Maintain strict confidentiality as outlined by FERPA and HIPAA.
  5. Ability to work alone and in groups to provide services.
  6. Maintain professional relationships with families.
  7. Assume responsibility for individual professional growth by staying current with literature, research, and/or practices.
  8. Demonstrate proficiency in the ability to effectively and regularly communicate with other employees of the SEKESC and constituents.
  9. Complete all assignments in a timely manner including communication with other staff and families.
  10. Follow all safety requirements as directed by the SEKESC.
  11. Regular and predictive attendance in the designated work location as determined by the Executive Director or designee.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or designee.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Ability to lift a maximum of 40 pounds.
  2. Manage all job duties with mobility, agility, and dexterity.
  3. Sit/stand for long periods.
  4. Work in loud/stressful environments.
  5. Ability to drive in varying weather and geographical conditions.
  6. Being exposed to infectious and contagious diseases.
  7. Being exposed to hazardous materials.
  8. Being exposed to work settings that offer a risk to personal security and that are not ADA-compliant.

The plan provides an opportunity for any Greenbush employee working at least 1,004 hours per year to be reimbursed up to $1500 per contract year for tuition costs. Employees of Greenbush meeting the hour requirement can apply to participate in the program by completing the Education Reimbursement Application Form. In addition, Greenbush offers a Professional License Reimbursement Program, which provides full reimbursement for professional licenses with specific Kansas licensing authorities and other appropriate authorities (a complete list can be provided upon request).
