Greenbush – The Southeast Kansas Education Service Center is seeking applications for a Superintendent Services and Educational Leadership Consultant at the Greenbush Main Campus in Girard- KS.

Job Summary: The Superintendent Services and Educational Leadership Consultant will play a pivotal role in supporting school districts through a range of leadership and governance initiatives. This position involves leading superintendent searches- providing mentoring and professional development for superintendents- facilitating effective board-superintendent relations- and coordinating forums and discussions for educational leaders. Additionally- the Consultant will support districts with strategic planning- budgeting- and staying current with legislative developments impacting education. This role requires deep knowledge of K-12 education governance- strategic leadership- and a passion for strengthening school leadership and operations.

 


QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

A valid driver’s license is required for employment. REAL ID is required if air travel is necessary to complete job duties.

  1. Master’s degree in Education Leadership- Public Administration- or related field.

  2. Proven experience in educational leadership- including prior experience as a superintendent- assistant superintendent- or similar senior-level administrative role in K-12 education.

  3. In-depth knowledge of school governance- strategic planning- budgeting- and educational policy.

  4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.

  5. Experience in organizing and facilitating professional development programs- forums- and workshops.

  6. Expertise in navigating legislative processes and understanding state and federal education policy.

  7. Ability to work independently- manage multiple projects- and meet deadlines.

  8. A commitment to fostering diversity- equity- and inclusion within educational leadership and governance

Preferred:

  1. Experience with superintendent search processes and candidate recruitment.

  2. Familiarity with contemporary leadership and governance challenges in K-12 education.

  3. Strong facilitation and coaching skills- with the ability to engage superintendents and boards effectively.

  4. Ability to stay informed of emerging trends and research in educational leadership.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions:

  1. Superintendent Searches:

    • Lead and manage superintendent searches- including defining district needs- recruiting candidates- and guiding the selection

      process.

    • Collaborate with school boards to assess candidate qualifications and ensure alignment with district vision and values.

  2. Mentoring Superintendents:

    • Provide ongoing coaching to new and existing superintendents- addressing leadership challenges and fostering a positive district

      culture.

    • Offer tailored support through regular check-ins and personalized advice.

  3. Board/Superintendent Relations:

    • Facilitate meetings to improve communication and collaboration between superintendents and boards.

    • Advise on governance- decision-making- and conflict resolution.

  4. Superintendent Forums (Virtual & In-Person):

    • Organize forums for networking- knowledge-sharing- and professional development.

    • Develop content on leadership challenges- policy updates- and emerging education trends.

  5.  

    Legislative Updates:

    • Monitor state and federal education legislation and provide updates to superintendents.

    • Host briefings and advocate for district interests with educational organizations and legislators.

  6. District Strategic Plans:

    • Assist in developing and refining district strategic plans- aligning on goals and measurable outcomes.

    • Facilitate planning sessions with key stakeholders to ensure long-term sustainability.

  7. District Budgets:

    • Guide districts in budgeting and aligning financial resources with priorities and strategic goals.

    • Provide training on financial forecasting- resource allocation- and fiscal accountability.

       

General Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain timely documentation.

  2. Support the mission- goals- and objectives of the Southeast Kansas Education Service Center (SEKESC).

  3. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.

  4. Maintain strict confidentiality as outlined by FERPA and HIPAA.

  5. Ability to work alone and in groups to provide services.

  6. Maintain professional relationships with families.

  7. Assume responsibility for individual professional growth by staying current with literature- research- and/or practices.

  8. Demonstrate proficiency in the ability to effectively and regularly communicate with other employees of the SEKESC and constituents.

  9. Complete all assignments in a timely manner including communication with other staff and families.

  10. Follow all safety requirements as directed by the SEKESC.

  11. Regular and predictive attendance in the designated work location as determined by the Executive Director or designee.

  12. Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or designee.

 


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Lifting up to 40 pounds.

  2. Manage all job duties with mobility- agility- and dexterity.

  3. Sit/stand for long periods.

  4. Work in loud/stressful environments.

  5. Ability to drive in varying weather and geographical conditions.

  6. Being exposed to infectious and contagious diseases.

  7. Being exposed to hazardous materials.

  8. Being exposed to work settings that offer a risk to personal security and are not ADA-compliant.

 

Additional physical requirements specific to job duty:

  1. The position may require travel for in-person meetings- forums- and superintendent searches.
  2. Virtual work flexibility with a combination of remote and on-site engagements depending on the needs of the districts and events.
