Education Requirements

  1. Bachelors Degree in Education or related field. Masters Degree preferred.
  2. Education administration certificate and/or early childhood education preferred.
  3. BLS/CPR certification required upon hire or within three (3) months of employment.

Experience Requirements

  1. Minimum of three (3) years experience in education and/or educational administration.
  2. Experience in a leadership role in a not-for-profit organization preferred.

Job Summary

The Executive Director is responsible for successful leadership, overall management and operation of The Center according to the strategic direction and policies set by the Board, as well as all governing and funding agencies rules and regulations (i.e. KHDE). This position is responsible for policy implementation and effective management of The Center and all programs and services provided, including, but not limited to age-appropriate curriculum and physical, social and emotional development programming. The Executive Director represents The Center to the greater community to further partnerships, advocacy objectives, programming initiatives and community partnership goals.

Responsibilities, Job Duties, and/or Projects

  1. Works in collaboration with employees and relevant licensing bodies and community agencies to accomplish the objectives of the organization.
  2. Oversees the financial viability of The Center through management of fees, fee collection, grant compliance and application, and seeking out other funding sources.
  3. Administers and directs the day-to-day operations of The Center, including financial, child care, food service, custodial, maintenance, and staffing.
  4. Directly oversees all employees to ensure everyone can work effectively as individuals and as a team to meet the goals of The Center and ensures compliance with all rules and regulations.
  5. Responsible for policy maintenance in alignment with best practice, including review and updating of policies as required. Communicates policy updates to all staff and parents in a timely, professional manner.
  6. Works with staff to ensure all onboarding and ongoing training requirements are met.
  7. Determines staffing needs. Recruits, hires and releases employees based on The Centers personnel policies. Resolves employee-related issues or problems as they arise.
  8. Maintains accurate and up to date employee records, including policy acknowledgements, health records, professional license, and training.
  9. Serves as the primary contact for media and presentation requests, requires active participation in community initiatives and extensive activity in the field of public relations.
  10. Serves as the primary contact for external agencies in situations requiring investigation. Ensures internal investigation process is completed according to best practice.
  11. Uses software programs as necessary for the work being performed, including but not limited to Google Suite and Microsoft Office products. Knowledge of accounting, child care management, and asset-design software (such as Adobe Suite or Canva) is helpful.
  12. Reviews and analyzes reports and records related to the operations and delivery of services and implements changes as necessary.

Physical Requirements

  1. Ability to lift at least 40 pounds.
  2. Requires both long periods of sitting, as well as long periods of physical activity.
  3. Ability to multitask in an environment with repeated interruptions.
