Greenbush The Southeast Kansas Education Service Center is seeking applications for an anticipated Assistant Director of Professional Learning and School Improvement located at the Greenbush Campus in Girard or Lawrence

Job Summary:

The Assistant Director of Professional Learning and School Improvement is responsible for supporting and assisting the Director of Professional Learning and School Improvement in the development and leadership of all programming and services related to curriculum, instruction, assessment, and continuous school improvement. The Assistant Director will collaborate with stakeholder groups to identify strategies for the implementation of evidence-based, learning and leadership practices. Additionally, the Assistant Director will help lead, support, develop, and supervise Greenbush staff who are responsible for the professional learning of others. The person serving in this role will regularly collaborate with the Director of Professional Learning and School Improvement and other Greenbush Learning and Leadership Services team members, contributing to continuity of services and credible teaching, learning, and school improvement efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  1. Valid drivers license required for employment. REAL ID is required if air travel is necessary to complete job duties.
  2. Leadership experiences at a systems level, whether that be as a building or district administrator, or serving as a current instructional leader who has systems-level responsibilities.
  3. Valid Kansas teaching license.
  4. Knowledge of and leadership experiences with State School Improvement and Accreditation processes.
  5. Ability to coordinate and deliver effective professional development, both in person and virtually.
  6. Knowledge of and experiences with leading and/or coaching high-quality instruction, assessment, and curriculum alignment efforts.

 Preferred:

  1. Kansas Building or District Administrator license.
  2. Masters Degree in Educational Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, and/or Teacher Leader.
  3. Experience in a building or district-level role with responsibilities for leading and/or coaching curriculum, instruction, assessment, and school improvement efforts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions:

Organizational Leadership and Development of Internal Staff:

  1. Offer guidance and leadership that advances the departments mission and goals.
  2. Use effective communication, collaboration, and team-building skills when managing and leading.
  3. Provide leadership, coaching, and supervision for staff in their efforts to deliver effective and credible professional learning and programming.
  4. Monitor and assess the effectiveness of programming and professional learning around curriculum, instruction, assessment, and school improvement initiatives.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:

  1. Partner with and support the vision of the Director.
  2. Establish strong collaborative and working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including KSDE constituents.
  3. Serve as a resource for educators, administrators, and Greenbush staff members on topics related to curriculum, instruction, assessment, and school improvement initiatives.
  4. Offer individual consultation and guidance for educators and administrators, as needed.                                           
  5. Contribute content for and participate in forums and other events that provide networking, knowledge-sharing, and professional development for others.

Organize and Provide Professional Learning:

  1. Design and develop high-quality, credible professional learning activities and sessions.
  2. Support the continuous growth and skill development of staff members under your leadership.
  3. Align the professional learning and programming offered with departmental intentions and objectives.
  4. Gather, analyze, and use data to refine and adjust future professional learning initiatives and ensure they are meeting the intended outcomes.
  5. Contribute to the organization, planning, and facilitation of departmental and Greenbush events.

Operational Items:

  1. Support the Director with preparation and visioning for budgets and resource allocation, ensuring efficient use of funds for programming assigned to this position.
  2. Contribute to the development and implementation of procedures and policies that comply with state regulations and best practices.
  3. Use HR systems for tracking and approving leave balances and leave requests.
  4. Operate within the registration system and collaborate with the hospitality team for scheduling, planning, and delivering professional learning sessions.
  5. Leverage technology and software to improve efficiency and streamline processes.
  6. Approve purchasing and reimbursements for team members as assigned and needed.
  7. Contribute to the development of marketing and resources for meetings and programming.

General Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain timely documentation.
  2. Support the mission, goals, and objectives of the SEKESC.
  3. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
  4. Maintain strict confidentiality as outlined by FERPA and HIPAA.
  5. Ability to work alone and in groups to provide services.
  6. Maintain professional relationships with families.
  7. Assume responsibility for individual professional growth by staying current with literature, research, and/or practices.
  8. Demonstrate proficiency in the ability to effectively and regularly communicate with other employees of the SEKESC and constituents.
  9. Complete all assignments in a timely manner including communication with other staff and families.
  10. Follow all safety requirements as directed by the SEKESC.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or designee.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Manages all job duties with mobility, agility, and dexterity.
  2. May be expected to lift to 40 pounds.
  3. Must be able to drive in varying weather and geographical conditions.
  4. Must be able to drive to and from home visits and access homes of each family in various indoor and outdoor conditions.
  5. May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases.
  6. May be exposed to work settings that offer a risk to personal security.
