Reports to: Supervising Teacher
Purpose Statement The purpose of the Paraeducator position is to assist the special education and general education instructors in creating a positive learning environment to facilitate the personal social and intellectual development of students. To accomplish these tasks the paraprofessional works closely with the assigned staff and building administration. Qualifications

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications Skills Knowledge and Abilities SKILLS are required to perform multiple highly complex technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: preparing and maintaining accurate records; adhering to safety practices; and safe and effective performance of hands-on physical therapy interventions.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; review and interpret highly technical information write technical materials and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: principles of physical therapy; health standards and hazards; safety practices and procedures; and age and/or developmentally appropriate activities.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities meetings and/or events; gather collate and/or classify data; and use job related equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of widely varied types and/or purposes; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Independent problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is significant. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; and maintaining confidentiality. Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger handle or feel objects tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop kneel crouch or crawl; talk or hear. Generally the job requires 30% sitting 20% walking and 50% standing. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include those close and distance vision. The noise level is generally low but can vary dependent upon activity. The job is performed under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
