High Incidence Elementary Special Education TeacherMaize USD 266 • www.usd266.com Hope Learning Center is seeking a full-time High Incidence / Behavior Support Teacher to work with elementary students. Purpose Statement The Teacher - Positive Behavior Support supports the instructional process with specific responsibility for facilitating instruction for special education students with social, emotional and behavioral disorders; supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; coordinating curriculum and intervention activities; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students' parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress. Benefits Special Education Teachers receive additional training and support for the aspects that make their jobs unique. They also receive four half-days out of the classroom each year to work on IEPs and documentation. We recognize that teachers at HLC have additional responsibilities and challenges and provide them with additional compensation (12% supplemental) and 5 extra days. Maize is also resource rich in paras, administrators, counselors and support staff which creates a supportive work environment. Our teachers are encouraged to continue to learn and grow. Many of our Low Incidence Teachers are working on their Masters degree in Special Education while teaching on a waiver. Tuition is reimbursed at $300 per credit hour. We also offer a professional learning series that qualifies for college credits.
