Maize Career Academy is seeking a strong teacher leader to support students and development staff engaged in Career and Technical Education.  Experience in CTE preferred, but not required.  Strong leadership is essential.  

This position is covered by the Negotiated Agreement and is on the teacher pay schedule.  

Qualifications:

Education/Certification: Current Kansas teaching license required, Building Administrator license preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills, leadership, strong decision making skills, problem solving, significant degree of professionalism and confidentiality, collaboration, sound management practices, evidence based instructional strategies, adult learning strategies 

Experience: Teaching, Teacher leadership

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist individual students and their parents or guardians in monitoring their academic, career, personal, and social development as they progress in school.
  • Assist in organization and operations for a safe, efficient, and effective learning environment. 
  • Collect, organize, and analyze information about individuals through records, tests, interviews, and professional sources, to appraise their interests, aptitudes, abilities, and personality characteristics, for vocational and educational planning. 
  • Provide for parent education through different resources. 
  • Collects and organizes student data; assists teachers in data analysis to inform instruction.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of evidence-based instructional strategies and works actively to build the capacity of faculty and staff in this area.
  • Designs and delivers professional learning.
  • Conduct classroom observations and provide coaching conversations for continued development.
  • Supports district and building leadership teams in strategic planning initiatives and school improvement efforts.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of other services, within the school or outside the school, available to students and their families. 
  • Actively participates on school committees.
  • Models continuous improvement and lifelong learning through professional reading, conference attendance, and collaboration with colleagues.
  • Assist all staff in implementing positive behavior strategies and tiered support regarding behavior.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with laws related to serving students especially in the areas of disability accommodations and special education.
  • Support standards of student conduct and respond to students in crisis.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality as appropriate in order to comply with district, state and federal laws.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the school and district.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and phone, two-way radio, personal or district provided vehicle

Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing

Motion: Repetitive hand motion, some walking, occasional reaching, carrying, stooping, and kneeling

Lifting: Occasional lifting

Environment: Primarily indoors with some outdoor activities, may be noisy

Mental Demands: Maintain focus, decision making, remain composed under pressure

 

Attendance: Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance/punctuality as required by the Board of Education policies and regulations.

 

Clearances: Background check, drug screen, TB test, driving record

Salary Information

Base salary is $47,478 and placed on the teacher salary schedule.
