Hope Learning Center is adding Registered Behavior Technicians to the team.  They will assist in development and implementation of school-based behavior intervention programs, monitor and collect data on behavior and document progress, and collaborate with school staff to coach and implement behavior interventions.  All work is under the direct supervision of a BCBA.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification: High school diploma (or equivalent) required. Within 60 days of employment, must obtain Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification.

Special Knowledge/Skills: Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; 

ability to instruct students and manage their behavior; ability to present information

one-on-one, small group, and large group situations to students.

Experience:  RBT experience preferred

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Implement procedures for behavior reduction with fidelity.
  • Implement skill acquisition procedures for Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques,  interventions and supports with fidelity.
  • Observe, record, and follow the behavior intervention plan (BIP) in the students Individual Education Plan (IEP).  
  • Assist with Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Techniques (NCI) when trained.
  • Assist with behavioral assessments including but not limited to preference assessments, individual students skills assessment, and functional assessments.
  • Prepare for, collect, and report required data and service documentation and assist in graphing data.
  • Become familiar with the teaching procedures used by the teacher, the teachers schedule of activities, the continuity of academic progression and the materials and equipment available.
  • Work with individual students and sometimes small groups of students when determined appropriate by the BCBA.
  • Assist the teacher in strategies for reinforcing materials or skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
  • Facilitate independent work set up by the teacher and transitions as indicated in the students IEP.
  • Provide escort and assistance to students as necessary throughout a variety of school settings.
  • Assist with supporting students during large group instructions.
  • Alert the teacher and BCBA to any problem or special information about an individual student, their programming, or related activities.
  • Assist with self-care tasks such as lunch, snack, clean up, wash up, and toileting routines.
  • Assist teachers in working with students who have challenging behaviors.
  • Assist the teacher in maintaining an environment that is conducive to learning.
  • Prepare programming materials during the school day as directed by the BCBA and classroom teacher.
  • Reinforce previously taught materials.
  • Attend assigned meetings to acquire and convey information relative to job functions. 
  • Remain with students at all times ensuring the safety of students, remove students when necessary, and de-escalating situations outside the classroom. 
  • Follows all KSDE, Legislation and BOE policy and regulation. 
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality as appropriate in order to comply with district, state and federal laws.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the department and district.

 

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and phone, 

standard classroom technology including computers and peripherals.

Posture: Prolonged standing, frequent walking.

Motion: Significant pushing/pulling, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping and fine finger 

dexterity.

Lifting: Frequent lifting and carrying (up to 75 pounds),

Environment: Primarily indoors; some outdoor student supervision. Risk for exposure to injury and/or illness in some varying atmospheric conditions. 

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress, solve problems, make decisions and be flexible.

Salary Information

$17-$18.25/hr
