Responsible for creating a positive learning environment to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students from grades 9-12. Prepare lesson plans; give assignments and tests and grade them; confer with parents about student progress and conduct; supervise students in classroom and other school settings, administers praise and constructive criticism. Creates a well-rounded, comprehensive instructional program. The classroom instructor must work closely with other staff and the administration of USD 309.

Unified School District 309, located in Reno County, encompasses the west edge of Hutchinson and serves the cities of Nickerson and South Hutchinson, Kansas.  Over 1,100 students and 250 employees work daily to provide a first-class teaching and learning environment for students pre-kindergarten through the senior year of high school. 

 

Our students are served in two elementary schools: Nickerson Elementary and South Hutchinson Elementary; one middle school: Reno Valley Middle School; and one high school: Nickerson High School.  All of our buildings are easily accessible from K-96. Many of our facilities have been renovated and contain the latest equipment and technology for facilitating student inquiry and learning which includes 1-to-1 student Chromebooks. The school and the district are committed to providing students and staff with the technology to succeed in our schools and beyond. 

 

Nickerson High School, a Class 3A high school, and Reno Valley Middle School are members of the Central Kansas League. USD 309 Schools are known for their outstanding academic, fine arts, and athletic programs.
