Purpose Statement
To deliver high-quality, engaging, and standards-based instruction across grade levels, fostering academic excellence, personal growth,
and social-emotional development for a diverse student population.

This job reports to the Building Principal.

Essential Functions
1. Instructional Planning & Delivery:
a. Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with state and district curriculum standards.
b. Utilize diverse instructional strategies to address varied learning styles and abilities.
c. Integrate formative and summative assessments to monitor and enhance student progress.

2. Classroom Management:
a. Establish and maintain a positive, organized, and safe classroom environment.
b. Implement effective behavior management strategies that support a productive learning atmosphere.

Other Functions
*Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary lesson planning and school-wide initiatives.
*Participate in ongoing professional development and staff meetings.
*Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student performance and classroom activities.
*Support extracurricular activities and contribute to school community events.
*Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
Education:
*Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.

Certification:
*Valid state teaching certification in the relevant subject area or grade level.

Experience & Skills:
*Proven classroom instructional experience and curriculum development expertise.
*Strong communication, classroom management, and organizational skills.
*Proficiency in integrating educational technology into teaching and administrative tasks.

Responsibility
*Deliver engaging, standards-based instruction and adapt methods to meet diverse student needs.
*Assess and document student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback.
*Develop and maintain an effective learning environment that supports academic and personal growth.
*Engage in collaborative planning, professional development, and school improvement initiatives.
*Maintain open lines of communication with parents and guardians through conferences, progress reports, and digital
platforms.

Work Environment
*Primary work setting is a classroom within a public school serving a diverse student body.
*Regular interaction with students, colleagues, and parents is expected, along with participation in extracurricular and
community activities.
*Frequent use of digital tools and educational technology for instructional and administrative purposes.

Required Testing and Certifications:
*Must successfully pass state-mandated teacher licensure examinations.
*Undergo regular performance evaluations as stipulated by district policy.
*Additional subject-specific certifications may be required as per state or district guidelines.

Salary Information

Salary is based on the negotiated agreement and determined by educational level and years of experience. Base salary for a beginning teacher with no experience is $44,558 for the 2025-2026 school year.

Unified School District 417 is located in east-central Kansas in the beautiful Flint Hills region. Our district includes portions of Geary, Wabaunsee, Lyon, and Morris Counties, and is only 30 minutes from both Manhattan and Emporia. It is comprised of two elementary schools and Council Grove Junior Senior High School (3A). The district has an average enrollment of 770 students.
