Position Summary
Hesston High School is seeking a passionate and student-centered Secondary English/Language Arts teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong instructional practices, a commitment to building meaningful relationships with students, and a desire to contribute to a positive and collaborative school culture.
This position includes the opportunity to teach college-level coursework through approved dual-credit partnerships. Compensation for college-level courses is paid directly to the teacher from the college provider in addition to the base teaching salary.
Head and assistant coaching and sponsorship opportunities are also available.
Primary Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in English/Language Arts at the secondary level, mainly classes for high school senior.
Work with other staff members to develop assessments, and instructional strategies that promote critical thinking, reading comprehension, and effective written and oral communication as needed.
Work with other staff members to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs.
Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with students and families.
Collaborate with colleagues in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
Uphold district policies and professional expectations.
Dual Credit / College Teaching Opportunity
Qualified candidates may have the opportunity to teach college-level English courses through established higher education partnerships.
Instructor must meet credentialing requirements of the partnering college.
Additional compensation for college coursework is paid directly to the instructor.
Opportunity to expand academic offerings and provide students with advanced coursework while remaining on campus.

Employer Information Approximately 870 students attend the schools that comprise Hesston USD 460. The district operates two educational buildings, including one elementary school (grades K-4) and a newly constructed (2025) 5-12 building that houses the middle school (grades 5-8), and high school (grades 9-12). The transportation area of the district encompasses 60 square miles. Hesston USD 460 takes pride in its reputation of excellence in academic achievement, activities, athletics, and fine arts. The USD 460 staff includes approximately 70 licensed personnel (teachers/administrators) and 60 classified employees.
