Job Title:                     Speech, Debate/Forensics Instructor (9-12)                                

 

Purpose:                      Instruct and assist the students in developing their communication skills to their maximum; to serve as a role model for students; develop the student in both the cognitive and affective domain; assist the student in developing an appreciation for and understanding the value of communication skills.   

 

Responsible to:           Building Principal          

 

Supervises:                 

 

Qualifications:

 

1.         Current Kansas Teaching Certificate in Speech

 

2.         Current TB skin test and physical.

 

3.         Ability to work with students and fellow staff.

 

4.         Ability to develop and meet goals for students.

 

5.         Knowledge of current trends in the field.

 

Essential Functions:

General responsibilities:

 

1.         Maintain and develop proper learning atmosphere in classroom and school.

 

2.         Develop and implement goals for class.

 

3.         Develop lesson plans and evaluation techniques of student progress.

 

4.         Report student progress to office and student/parents.

 

5.         Maintain room and equipment inventory.

 

6.         Set example of proper attitude and behavior for students.

 

7.         Comply with administrative requests.

 

8.         Keep an accurate account of student attendance and grades.

 

9.         Provide the students with career information.

 

10.        Incorporate into the program speakers and field trips as needed.

 

11.        Supervise students in/out classroom activities, including extracurricular activities.

 

12.        Work with students to fully develop communication expertise.

 

13.        Work with fellow faculty to develop and maintain an effective learning environment.

14.        Works with administration to maintain and improve the speech department and the school.

 

15.        Work with students to gain their support and assistance in school endeavors.

 

16.        Willingness and flexibility to adopt new teaching strategies into their classroom.

 

17.        Prepare students for local, state, and national summative assessments.

 

 

 

Term of Employment:              As per negotiated teacher agreement

 

Payment Rate:                          According to Certified Salary Schedule

 

Evaluation:                               Performance effectiveness will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education Policy of Certified Personnel.
