Job Title:                     Physical Education/Health Instructor (6-9)                                 

 

Purpose:                      Successfully guide, teach and monitor the students’ progress through a program designed to give the students a basic working knowledge and appreciation of proper physical education and health; to serve as a role model for students; develop students in both the cognitive and affective domains; to help students develop an appreciation and understanding of healthful living.   

 

Responsible to:           Building Principal           

            

 

Qualifications:

 

1.         Current Kansas teaching certificate

 

2.         Knowledge and understanding of the concepts and philosophies of proper physical education and health.

 

3.         Keep current in the trends and practices in the field.

 

Essential Functions:

 

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:

 

General responsibilities:

 

1.         Teach basics of the material outlined in the curriculum guide regarding department offerings.

 

2.         Guide students in the development and refinement of old and new talents relating to the subject.

 

3.         Monitor student progress and improvement toward basic departmental goals.

 

4.         Imbibe into student working appreciation for physical education and lifetime activities, all other responsibilities set forth by the Board of Education.

 

5.         Keep accurate attendance and grades.

 

6.         Develop goals and objectives for each class.

 

7.         Provide speakers and field trips of worth for class.

 

8.         Provide career information to students.

 

9.         Supervise students in a non-classroom setting.

 

10.        Proper working relationship with principal and other faculty in regard to the importance of physical education.

 

11.        Working relationship to staff members regarding use and time use of certain areas and equipment; be cooperative and develop mutual respect.

 

12.        Working relationship with students’ in regard to the material presented to them; open two-way communication.

 

13.        Keep parents and the public informed of the activities and goals of the program.

 

14.        Willingness and flexibility to adopt new teaching strategies into their classroom.

 

15.        Prepare students for local, state, and national summative assessments.

 

 

Term of Employment:              As per negotiated teacher agreement

 

Payment Rate:                          According to Certified Salary Schedule

 

Evaluation:                               Performance effectiveness will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education Policy of Certified Personnel.
