Junior/Senior High Principal

USD 286 is seeking a 6-12 Principal who provides professional leadership in organizing, administering, supervising, and evaluating an effective school program that promotes academic excellence for all students. In order to accomplish these tasks, the principal works closely with the community, staff, and administration.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree from an accreditation college/university.
  • Three years of administrative experience desirable.
  • Current Kansas Building Administrator certification (3010) inclusive of appropriate levels.
  • Ability to lead staff in providing academic excellence for all student groups.
  • Copy of current resume, complete with the names and current contact information of at least three references.
  • Copy of all university transcripts.
  • Copy of current Kansas Department of Education (KSDE) License or verification from KSDE that Kansas licensure is in process.

Salary Information

USD 286 in Sedan is located in Southeast Kansas at the junctions of US Highway 166 and 99.  Sedan is a picturesque community located equidistant from Tulsa, OK, Wichita, KS and Joplin, MO, in the heart of the Chautauqua Hills.  Sedan is the Chautauqua County seat and has a community hospital, golf course, swimming pool and numerous restaurants.  Sedan is a great place to work and raise a family.

Oil and cattle production are still the county`s main resources.  Other industries include the production and distribution of bedding plants at Sedan Floral and the Kansas Klipper.  Efforts to promote tourism in the county include such events as the Christmas in the Hollow, Annual Redbud Tour, and the Chautauqua County Fair.
