Position Title: Special Education Resource Teacher – High-Incidence (Elementary)

Reports To: Building Principal and Director of Special Education
Position Type: Certified / Full-Time / 10 Month Contract

Position Overview:

The High-Incidence Special Education Resource Teacher provides targeted instruction and support to elementary students with high-incidence disabilities- including learning disabilities- ADHD- emotional/behavioral disorders- and speech/language impairments. The teacher works closely with general education staff to implement inclusive practices- along with some resource room support- support academic growth- and help students meet IEP goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and small-group instruction aligned with IEP goals.

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to modify curriculum and implement accommodations and interventions.

  • Develop- implement- and monitor IEPs in compliance with IDEA and district policies.

  • Collect and analyze student progress data to inform instruction and communicate growth.

  • Provide strategies- resources- and support to general education staff to promote inclusion.

  • Foster social-emotional growth and positive behavior through evidence-based interventions.

  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress- strategies- and supports.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of services- progress- and compliance requirements.

  • Participate in professional learning- team meetings- and IEP conferences.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Valid Kansas teaching license with a Special Education endorsement (High-Incidence)
    • Alternate Licensures are considered.

  • Knowledge of evidence-based strategies for high-incidence disabilities

  • Strong collaboration- communication- and organizational skills

Preferred:

  • Experience teaching elementary students with high-incidence disabilities

  • Familiarity with response-to-intervention (RTI) and behavior support frameworks

  • Training in social-emotional learning- assistive technology- or differentiated instruction

Work Environment:

  • Elementary school classroom and collaborative team settings

  • Regular interaction with students- staff- and families

  • Involves occasional physical support and supervision of students
