High School Science Teacher

Bishop Ward High School is looking for a full-time high school science teacher who can teach four sections of freshman biology and one semester of PLTW Human Body systems. Would be a full-time teaching position and would be eligible for Archdiocesan benefits. Experienced teachers would be eligible for department chair consideration, which would be an additional stipend.

 

Responsibilities

Teacher would be responsible for the following.

  1. Teaching, lesson planning, grading, and management of four freshman biology classes and one PLTW Human Body Systems course, which is an upper level course.
  2. Collaborating with the science department, a three-team department, especially during department level meetings.
  3. Following all expectations required from Archdiocesan teachers, including passing background check, being VIRTUS trained, participating in faculty development, submitting lesson plans and professional goals in timely manner, and upholding all assigned duties as expected.
  4. Eligible to have role as Department Chair, which would include additional responsibilities such as leading department meetings, setting subject-wide standards and expectations, collecting and presenting data, and representing department at chair meetings. Additional stipend would be included.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's Degree required; Degree in science-related field preferred.
  2. Must possess or be eligible for 9-12 Kansas Licensure in Science.
  3. Must pass background check and be VIRTUS-trained (Can help with latter)
  4. Previous education and/or teaching experience preferred.

Salary Information

Salary

  1. Starting salary at $36,000, based on Archdiocesan scale.
  2. Eligible for higher salary and additional stipends based on education, experience and ability to hold other roles in building.
