High School Math Teacher

Riverside USD 114 is a 2A school located in the northeast corner of Kansas and includes the towns of Elwood and Wathena, which are approximately 4 miles apart.  We are bordered by the Missouri River on the east, north and south, and the west border of the district extends to approximately 1 mile west of Blair.  Both Elwood and Wathena have a variety of businesses, including a post office in each town, restaurants, a Dollar General, gas stations/convenience stores, a seasonal flower/statuary market, a newspaper, mortuary, insurance agents, a bank in each town, beauty salons, data processing business, two Chiropractic offices, heating & A/C services, body shops, plus many other businesses and trucking companies in Elwood & Wathena.  St. Joseph MO borders the district on the east and Kansas City is 45 miles south of St Joseph, MO. 

Riverside USD 114  was formed July 1, 2010 by the consolidation of Elwood USD 486 and Wathena USD 406. Our district consists of two campuses.  Riverside High School (Grades 9-12) and Riverside Middle School (Grades 6-8) are located at the West  Campus, 705 Jessie, Wathena; and Riverside Elementary School (Intermediate 3-5 and Primary PreK-2) are located at the East Campus, 203-04 North 12th, Elwood. 

Our enrollment for the 24-25 school year is approximately 640 students in grades PK-12. Riverside is a technology-rich district, with computers/laptops in every classroom, and each high school student is provided a laptop for use during their high school career.  IPADS are provided to students in grades 5-8. Smartboards and several classrooms have Active Panel TVs.  We have computer labs on each campus.  Our sports program includes Middle School and High School football, wrestling, volleyball, basketball, cross country, & track.   High School baseball and softball are also offered.
