- Possesses knowledge in the field of Curriculum/Instruction and Assessments 

- Possesses knowledge of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)   

- Possesses experience working with Special Education programs

- Possesses strong communication skills; speaking- listening- and writing

- Continually and consistently communicates effectively with students- staff- and parents

- Helps promote a positive and professional environment for all building employees

- Possesses the skills to help identify- cultivate- and promote teacher leaders  

- Is strongly committed to a -student first- philosophy in all decisions  

- Maintains appropriate- consistent standards of student conduct and enforces discipline- as necessary- according to school and district policies

- Is committed to utilizing the USD 250 strategic plan and building vision to guide decisions  

- Possesses the skills to effectively supervise and evaluate certified and classified staff

- Possesses a commitment to the supervision of events associated with school and district on a regular schedule   

- Models high standards of integrity and personal performance

 

The Job
The Pittsburg Community Schools Board of Education is seeking an outstanding educator and leader to assume the position of High School Assistant Principal.
 
The final salary for the successful candidate will be negotiated and determined based upon proven experience- qualifications- and meeting Board criteria- including a comprehensive benefits package.
 

Required Credentials

The candidate must meet the Building or District Administrator Requirement credentials.

Unified School District 250 serves the city of Pittsburg, Kansas and the immediate rural area surrounding our community. Over 2,700 students and 500 employees work daily to provide a first-class teaching and learning environment for students pre-kindergarten through the senior year of high school. 

Our students are served in four elementary schools, a middle school, a high school, and an alternative education setting. All our facilities have been renovated or newly constructed since 2001 and contain the latest equipment and technology for facilitating student inquiry and learning.

Our staff is well-trained and experienced with about 60% of our teachers having a masters degree or higher. The average experience level of teachers in the district exceeds 10 years.
