Social Worker/Counselor

Herington Public Schools, USD #487, is currently seeking a Social Worker/School counselor to work primarily with 6th through 8th grade students and the teachers in the district`s middle school.  The Social Worker/Counselor may also provide support in our other buildings as needed. The successful candidate will begin in August of the 23-24 school year. 

 

Qualifications

  • LMSW, Masters degree in Counseling, or related field is preferred. 
  • A demonstrated philosophy that all students can and will learn.
  • Excellent attendance record
  • Excellent communication skills oral and written
  • Positive interpersonal skills
  • Evidence of the willingness and the ability to comply with the standards for ethical and professional performance established by the State Board of Education.
  • This individual will exhibit skills pertinent to foster positive human relationships and the ability to work effectively with students, staff, parents and the community

Reports to: Superintendent

Work Schedule: 201 Day Contract 

 

Responsibilities

  • Provision of Social Work services as part of an IEP team
  • Assisting with the writing of Individual Education Plans
  • Supporting the learning process to help students achieve program objectives
  • Working with and understanding a diverse student population
  • Encouraging a building climate conducive to learning
  • Establishing a cooperative relationship with all students and staff
  • Maintaining open lines of communication with parents/ guardians/ staff
  • Engaging in professional growth activities through an ongoing program of job-related knowledge and skill development
  • Working collaboratively to achieve the overall purpose of the schools program and support the Districts vision, aims and goals
