Part-Time Elementary CounselorLewis USD 502 • www.usd502.com Purpose: USD 502 is seeking a qualified individual to fill our counselor position. The purpose of the Counselor is to provide guidance with a wide range from home situations, personal situations to academic preparation, and remain current on educational issues. Responsible to: Building Principal Qualifications: Kansas Certification as a counselor. Possess a caring personal relationship with students. Have knowledge and ability in area of diagnostic testing as well as administering tests. General responsibilities: Include but are not limited to counseling all students. Provide mandatory and elective testing program. Interpretation of tests to students, parents, staff, and Board of Education. Assist in evaluation relative to curriculum development. Inform staff and parents of student progress through written and oral communication. Be an active member of the building team during the development of IEPs for students. Be a friend, confidant, source of support, and a listener for students. Be a communicator with parents and instructors. Be available to students. Keep the administration appraised of activities in the counseling department. Be sympathetic to staff and students. This position could be full time with other duties assigned. Benefits Information Single health insurance paid for by USD 502. 10 days of sick leave, 3 days of personal leave are available upon employment. Option to participate in the 125 cafeteria plan. Salary Information USD 502 base salary is $43,500. Additional steps and movement on the salary schedule are available on licensure, continuing education credits, and teaching experience.
