Job Summary:

The Credit Recovery Instructor facilitates student learning in a self-paced, online credit recovery program. This role supports students who need to retake courses to meet graduation requirements, providing academic guidance, progress monitoring, and motivation in a structured, supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Instruction & Support:

  • Facilitate credit recovery courses using district-approved online programs.
  • Assist students in understanding course material, answering questions, and troubleshooting technical issues.
  • Provide individualized support to help students develop study skills, time management, and self-motivation.

Progress Monitoring & Assessment:

  • Track student progress through online learning platforms and intervene when necessary.
  • Communicate with teachers, counselors, and parents about student progress and concerns.
  • Ensure students meet deadlines and stay on pace to complete coursework within designated timeframes.

Classroom Management & Student Engagement:

  • Maintain a structured and positive learning environment.
  • Encourage and motivate students to persist through challenges and complete their coursework.
  • Enforce school policies and academic integrity guidelines in an online learning setting.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Work with school staff to identify students in need of credit recovery and develop personalized learning plans.
  • Coordinate with classroom teachers to align credit recovery content with curriculum expectations.
  • Provide reports on student progress and completion rates.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Education or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with online learning platforms and credit recovery programs.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to motivate and support students in an independent learning environment.
  • Experience working with at-risk students is a plus.

District applies $4,692 annually to the district health insurance premium.

Salary Information

(Bluestem Schools works on a 4-day school week.)

USD 205 Base Salary $43,000

 Head Coaching: $5,040 + $75 additional per year of experience

 Asst. Coaching: $3,510 + $75 additional per year of experience

Bluestem is a rural school district in eastern Butler County Kansas.  Despite the rural nature of this scenic 350 square mile school district, it lies less than 30 minutes from all of the suburban hustle and bustle on the east side of Wichita, KS.  

Bluestem schools adopted a 4-day school week in 2010.  

Bluestem operates one 7-12 jr/sr high school and one PK-6 elementary school.

Bluestem Schools implemented a K-12 - 1 to 1 iPad project in the 2012-13 school year.
