Position Goal: The Culinary Arts Chef provides students a learning environment to practice, develop and refine skills in the culinary arts. The Culinary Arts Chef will support students in the practice and development of these skills within a broad culinary environment. The Culinary Arts Chef will instruct students in introductory and advanced culinary arts.
Preferred Qualifications:
o Kansas Career and Technical Education (CTE) Specialized Certificate
o Ability to apply for Industry Recognized Certification
o Five years of full-time work experience in the profession
o Kansas Teaching License 7-12 (preferred)
o Endorsements: Family and Consumer Science, Home Economics Junior High, Home Economics, Home Economics Voc St Apv Prog or Vocational Home Economics
Reports to: Building Principal
Essential Functions: The Culinary Arts Chef must possess the knowledge and skills of the relevant culinary arts, techniques and professional practices used to create and deliver high quality dishes and in the operation of all aspects of a kitchen. The Culinary Arts Chef must be able to effectively instruct/communicate this knowledge, so students will acquire practical, relevant and real world culinary arts skills.

o Appropriately operate all classroom equipment
o Assist in the instruction and supervision of students
o Explain directions/concepts
o Monitor student progress
o Motivate students through effective communication and evaluative feedback
o Set and maintain high expectations for student achievement and behavior
o Prepare instructional materials and supplies
o Inventory/record keeping of supplies
o Escort and supervise students to/from various school areas
o When necessary, escort students on field trips
o Take attendance and record absences
o Attend staff meetings
o Prepare materials
o Assist with classroom set up or clean up
o Assist with clerical duties in classroom or occasionally in building front office
o All other duties assigned by building principal
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
o Work in multiple settings

o Good physical agility which requires the following:
