Executive Director

(Exempt)

The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for leading, administering, and directing, through team leads and staff members, all operations of Essdack. Within the framework of delegated authority and consistent with organizational policies and procedures, the director ensures quality program services that are responsive to customer needs, sound fiscal operations, and good management of all internal and external affairs.

KEY TASKS

The executive director ensures a strong, compelling vision focused on improving the success of each student.

  • Works with the CFO and leadership team to regularly provide accurate reports on budget, programs, and communications to the Board of Directors.

  • Works with the leadership team to monitor the organization’s progress toward the organizational and team goals that lead to student and staff success.

The executive director builds positive relations.

  • Communicates the organization’s vision, mission, goals, and progress to the Board of Directors, staff, and educational community.

  • Works effectively with agencies associated with or as possible new contacts to the organization.

  • Involves appropriate stakeholders in the organizational decision-making processes.

The executive director fosters a healthy organizational culture and climate.

  • Commits to regular communications with staff.

  • Interacts effectively with all personnel and sets the expectation that all individuals are treated with fairness, dignity, and respect, leading to a safe and supportive environment. 

  • Handles conflict in a calm and direct manner.

The executive director provides leadership for all board and superintendent groups.

  • Attends and participates in all Board of Directors meetings and effectively communicates issues, needs, educational trends, organizational goals, and overall operation of the organization.

  • Prepares the Board of Directors' agenda and other meeting materials in cooperation with the board president.

  • Interprets, executes, and supports board policies.

  • Provides leadership and serves as a trustee on the Board.

  • Provides leadership and attends 403(b) Board of Trustees Meetings.

  • Provides leadership and attends the Executive Council and Superintendent Council Meetings.

The executive director oversees effective and efficient staff performance.

  • Oversees recruitment and recommends assignment, transfer, or termination of personnel in collaboration with team leads.

  • Monitors and ensures the organization implements sound personnel policies and practices.

  • Facilitates leadership meetings that promote vision, organizational improvement, and resource allocation.

  • Works with the leadership team to ensure that necessary resources, including time, money, personnel, and materials, are allocated to accomplish organizational goals.

The executive director practices responsible fiscal, facility, and resource management.

  • Prepares long and short-term facility and site plans for the staff and Board of Directors.

  • Manages the facility needs and ensures the maintenance of property, equipment, and supply needs.

  • Supervises the preparation of the annual budget with the CFO.

  • Keeps student success at the forefront of delivered services.

  • Ability to advocate at the state and national level.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Regularly required to communicate with others to exchange accurate information.

  • Frequently required to move. 

  • Occasionally raise or lower objects up to 40 lbs from one level to another.

Salary Information

$100,000+ (commensurate with experience and qualifications) plus employer-paid benefits
