System/Network Administrator

 JOB GOAL:  To ensure the reliable and efficient operation of the school district’s network infrastructure, supporting the educational and administrative activities by providing a secure, robust, and high-performance network environment.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration or a closely related field, or equivalent experience.
  2. Certifications such as Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, and/or Cisco CCNA/CCNP are highly regarded.
  3. Specialized certifications like the Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) or VMware Certified Professional (VCP) can be beneficial.

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Design, implement, and maintain the district's network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  2. Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement enhancements to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  3. Develop and implement disaster recovery plans, including data backup and system redundancy strategies, to maintain data safety and availability.
  4. Manage user access and security, ensuring compliance with district policies and protection against unauthorized access and cyber threats.
  5. Assist Computer Support Specialists with Student Device management/repair when needed.
  6. Provide technical expertise and guidance for the planning and implementation of new IT projects, including system upgrades and expansions.
  7. Troubleshoot network and system issues, resolving problems efficiently to minimize downtime.
  8. Maintain documentation of the network architecture, operational procedures, and inventory of IT assets.
  9. Conduct training sessions for staff on network operations, cyber security best practices, and the effective use of technology in their roles.
  10. Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in network infrastructure and security to recommend improvements and innovations.
  11. Conduct routine preventative maintenance on computers and other equipment, including checking hard drive health, software updates, malware and virus removal, and physical cleaning. Supervision of part-time personnel may be required.
  12. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Technology Director.

Salary Information

Classified employee/at-will employee from July 1 to June 30.  Compensation at an hourly rate.

Rock Creek USD 323 is a progressive, growing district with approximately 1,300 students.  We are the first school district east of Manhattan and encompass several communities. 

Rock Creek has an elementary school in Westmoreland and one in St. George.  St. George Elementary completed two new additions in 2014.

We completed a new strength & conditioning facility and a three room addition to Rock Creek High School, spring 2014. A new district office was completed in 2019, and our new middle school opened for the 2020-2021 school year.  Upgrades to the football stadium were completed fall 2013 and a new softball field was completed for the 2015 season.  We also opened our new baseball field on the Rock Creek campus for the 2021 season. We will have an updated track and field facility for the start of the 2024/2025 school year.

The high school, middle school and district office are located halfway between the communities of Westmoreland & St. George.  

Our state assessment scores are among the highest in the state.  Our curriculum includes innovative programs at all grade levels and 1:1. Classroom iPad sets at grades K-6, and Chromebooks at grades 7-12.
