TITLE: Occupational Therapist (OT)

Reports to: Assistant Director of Student Services

Job Goal: To provide direct and consultative services for children with disabilities that impact student learning within the realm of Occupational Therapy

Qualifications:  Valid Kansas Occupational Therapy License

Performance and Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct Occupational Therapy screenings according to established state and federal professional standards and procedures
  2. Complete and written comprehensive diagnostic evaluations according to established state and federal professional standards and procedures
  3. Participate in multidisciplinary team conferences and planning sessions in order to meet the continuing needs of identified students or those at risk
  4. Develop Individualized Education Programs for identified students.
  5. Provide Occupational Therapy services using a variety of service delivery models within a collaborative team to address fine motor needs of the student
  6. Complete documentation through progress notes and quarterly reports that specify student progress on IEP goals and objectives
  7. Work collaboratively with teachers and parents including parent/teacher conferences to ensure a unified approach to school-related issues
  8. Provide training to teachers, parents, instructor assistants, and other related service personnel to ensure their effective contribution to a child’s Individualized Education Program
  9. Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA) if applicable
  10. Serve on various district, school or Occupational Therapy staff committees as appropriate
  11. Other duties as assigned

Critical Skills and Abilities:

  1. Ability to possess and maintain licensure in the state of Kansas
  2. Ability to speak clearly to various groups expressing ideas in a logical and forthright manner
  3. Possess composition skills suitable for producing written communication for a variety of readers
  4. Ability to quickly analyze a situation and provide prompt advice
  5. Ability to respond to information requests in a courteous, timely and helpful manner
  6. Ability to perform job responsibilities using appropriate software on district computer system and communication equipment
  7. Ability to manage job responsibilities while meeting established deadlines
  8. Ability to work constructively and cooperatively with others
  9. Knowledge and expertise in research based therapy and evaluation methods
  10. Knowledge and experience of intervention based service delivery models
  11. Knowledge of federal and state legislation

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation

Salary: Certified salary schedule + Fringe benefits

The tasks listed in this position description are subject to change at the discretion of the superintendent.  The incumbent is expected to take on other duties as requested or assigned by his/her supervisor
