Job Title: Technology Coordinator

Reports to: Superintendent
Location: USD101 Erie-Galesburg
Employment Type: Full-Time, 12-Month Position

 

Position Summary:

The Technology Coordinator plays a key role in managing and supporting all aspects of technology in a small school district. This includes maintaining hardware and software systems, managing the district website, and supporting district-wide communication tools. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can work independently, troubleshoot a wide range of technical issues, and collaborate with staff to ensure that technology effectively supports teaching, learning, and operations.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

Technology Infrastructure (Hardware & Network)

  • Install, configure, and maintain district computers, Chromebooks, tablets, printers, and related hardware.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot wired and wireless networks and internet connectivity.
  • Manage device inventory, repairs, and replacement cycles.
  • Provide technical support and training for staff and students.

Software & Systems

  • Oversee installation, configuration, and updates for educational and administrative software (e.g., SIS, LMS, productivity tools, assessment platforms).
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access across systems (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, etc.).
  • Serve as the primary contact for software vendors and support services.
  • Train staff on the effective use of district software tools.

District Website

  • Maintain and regularly update the district website with announcements, calendars, staff directories, and required compliance documents.
  • Work with administrators to ensure timely and accurate web content.
  • Ensure the website remains accessible, easy to navigate, and ADA compliant.

Communication & Support

  • Support communication platforms such as email systems, mass notification tools, and phone systems.
  • Assist in maintaining digital signage or announcement systems (if applicable).
  • Help coordinate technology-based communication during emergencies or school closures.
  • Collaborate with staff to improve internal communication workflows using technology.

 

Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Educational Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Preferred).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in technology support, preferably in a K12 or small organization setting.
  • Proficiency with Windows, iOS, ChromeOS, Google Workspace, basic networking, and website content management systems.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve a wide range of hardware/software issues.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
  • Experience managing a school website or willingness to learn.
  • Familiarity with student data privacy laws and cybersecurity best practices.

 

Additional Information:

  • May require occasional travel between buildings and lifting equipment (up to 4050 lbs).
  • Some evening or weekend work may be required for upgrades or special events.
  • Flexible problem-solver with a hands-on approach is essential for success in this role.

Unified School District #101  is located in southeast Kansas.   Our district is comprised of three attendance centers,   Galesburg Middle School located in Galesburg just south of Erie, is a facility for our 5th-8th grades.   Erie Elementary a PREK-4 building and Erie High School are located in Erie.

The patrons of USD #101 passed a $21 Million Bond to upgrade facilities at the Galesburg Middle School, construct a new high school facility and to remodel the old high school building to accommodate our elementary students.  

The upgrade at the middle school has been completed, the new high school facility opened for our students September 2010 and  the remodeling phase of the old high school to an elementary school was completed in September 2011.

Erie High School is a KSHSAA Class 2A school.   USD101 is a district where students come first. We are constantly striving to improve and be the best school in SE Kansas.

Our communities are located between Parsons and Chanute.  We benefit from being able to utilize services from Neosho County Community College - Chanute, Labette Community College - Parsons and Pittsburg State University.
