About Us: 

Blue Valley USD #384 is seeking a dedicated and student-focused School District Nurse to serve our PreK–12 school district. Located in a supportive 1A rural community approximately 20 miles north of Manhattan, Kansas, our district values strong relationships, collaboration, and a commitment to student well-being.

The District Nurse plays a vital role in promoting student health, safety, and wellness, supporting regular attendance, and ensuring a safe learning environment for all students and staff.

Job Goal

The District Nurse will lead, coordinate, and manage comprehensive district health services for USD #384, promoting student health, safety, and wellness to support learning, attendance, and overall student success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing services to students, including first aid, illness assessment, medication administration, and emergency care

• Develop, implement, and oversee individualized health care plans (IHCPs), emergency action plans (EAPs), and 504 health accommodations

• Maintain accurate health records and ensure compliance with state immunization and health screening requirements

• Serve as a health resource for students, staff, and families, providing education and guidance on health-related issues

• Collaborate with administrators, teachers, counselors, and special education staff to support student needs

• Respond to student health emergencies and coordinate care with local medical providers and emergency services

• Monitor communicable diseases and assist with health-related decision-making and reporting as required

• Ensure compliance with Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) guidelines, board policy, and applicable state and federal regulations

• Participate in school safety planning and emergency preparedness efforts

• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times

Qualifications

• Current Kansas Registered Nurse (RN) license required (BSN preferred)

• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)

• School nursing experience preferred but not required

• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a school setting

• Knowledge of child and adolescent health, special health needs, and school health regulations

Work Schedule & Compensation

• School year position (calendar and hours to be determined)
