Position Summary:

The Preschool Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children. This position fosters the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of students while supporting school readiness skills and aligning with state early learning standards. This program includes 4 and 3 year olds.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop and implement daily lesson plans aligned with early childhood standards.
 

Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports learning through play, exploration, and structured activities.

Monitor and assess student progress using observations, screenings, and documentation tools.

Communicate regularly with families regarding student development and classroom activities.
 

Collaborate with paraprofessionals, special education staff, and support personnel as needed.
 

Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom setting that encourages independence and discovery.
 

Attend staff meetings, professional development, and early childhood team planning sessions.
 

Ensure compliance with state licensing requirements, health and safety guidelines, and district policies.

Support students self-help skills, including toileting, dressing, and feeding, as appropriate.
 

Provide behavior support and guidance in accordance with best practices for early childhood development.

 

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (or associate degree with a child development credential depending on program requirements).
 

Kansas teaching license with an endorsement in Early Childhood Unified (BirthK) or the ability to obtain appropriate licensure.
 

Knowledge of child development principles and developmentally appropriate practices.
 

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
 

CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
 

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience teaching in a preschool or early learning environment.
 

Familiarity with MTSS, Creative Curriculum, Conscious Discipline, or other early childhood frameworks.

 

Working Conditions:

Full-time position based in a school or early learning center.
