Director of Teaching and Learning

Qualifications:  Valid Teaching Certificate (District School         Administrator Preferred)

  • A Master's Degree is required.  A Master's Degree in educational leadership is preferred with experience in the area of curriculum and instruction helpful.
  • Successful teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of results based staff development process.
  • Skillful at motivating and providing leadership at the district and building level.
  • Experienced with curriculum and effective teaching practices.
  • Communication skills.
  • Education-related technological proficiency.

Reports to:  Superintendent

Job Functions:

  • Serve as the District Curriculum Coordinator.
  • District Test Coordinator.
  • Coordinate the district's MTSS process.
  • Director of Local Consolidated Plan (LCP - Title Programs).
  • Kansas Individual Data on Students (KIDS) district coordinator.
  • Maintain SIS (PowerSchool) system.
  • District Accreditation (School Imporvement) Process Facilitator.
  • District Professional Development Organization and Implementation - Work with administration and the Professional Develop Council to plan, deliver, and evaluate Professional Learning.
  • District Grant Coordinator.
  • Coordinate State Programs including At-Risk, Vocational, ELL, and is the Liason for Homeless Students
  • Assure uniformity in assessment, parent reporting, and academic standards.
  • To suggest methods for integrating instruction in order to provide general direction for teachers and principals.
  • To facilitate district-wide career readiness activities.
  • To coordinate and recommend textbook adoptions with the curriculum.
  • Assist with instructional technology integration.
  • To review and recommend all text and workbook purchases.
  • Provides oversight for the Mentor program.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

Terms of Employment:

  • Administrative Position.
  • Must travel between buildings.
  • Hours of work will vary with the needs of the job.
  • Salary commensurate with education, experince, and qualifications.
