  • The Classroom Instructor creates a positive learning environment to facilitate the personal  social  and intellectual development of students.
  • In order to respond to the individual needs and abilities of students the Classroom Instructor must work closely with other staff  the administration  and other programs of Lyndon Schools.
  • Kansas certification required  or certification in a different state with qualifications that allow for licensure in Kansas. 
  • Endorsement in Family & Consumer Science/ Home Economics Junior High Home Economics/ Home Economics Vocational State Approved Program/ Vocational Home Economics required or in the process.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with fellow educators to develop  implement and evaluate instructional strategies and materials to improve teaching and learning for all students.
  • Kansas Certification of Health on file in the USD 421 Central Office.
  • Personal Qualities - Appearance  grooming and personality which establish a desirable example for students.
  • Ability to meet district standards for physical and mental health.
  • Better than average recommendations from professionals who have observed the personal characteristics  scholastic attainment  and classroom performance of the teacher.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess needs and respond with appropriate action to achieve goals persistent problem solver.
  • Flexibility with schedule  program demands and student needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to self-start.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond to needs creatively and independently.
  • Evidence of confidence necessary to lead and humility necessary to follow directions.
  • Demonstrated ability to take direction teachable.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Evidence of readiness to go above and beyond assigned duties.

Benefits Information

USD 421 will provide a fringe benefit payment of $750 towards single coverage; $1200 towards employee/children & employee/spouse coverage; and $1400 towards employee/family coverage. BCBS KS

Salary Information

USD 421 offers a competitive salary base starting at $47,895 with excellent insurance coverage. Years experience are honored; FCCLA Advisor stipend available. The Board of Education will pay $130.00 as a Tuition Reimbursement for each hour of credit toward a Master’s Degree program or an additional teaching endorsement. Or, after one year of employment, there are $150,000 of Patterson Family Foundation Grant funds for teachers - FULL reimbursement for college courses. Supplemental salaries for coaching and sponsorships are available, honoring years of experience and longevity pay. Professional development opportunities available.
