QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A high school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Enjoys working with children.
  3. Basic skills appropriate to specific employment situations including acceptable communication patterns.
  4. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  5. Must have, or be able to obtain, and maintain a valid Kansas drivers license.
  6. Ability to lift as required by job.

JOB GOAL:

To work with any student(s) assigned in all school settings.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Carry out specific plans made by certified personnel for students identified with disabilities.
  2. Work and interact appropriately with children identified with disabilities.
  3. Adhere to local and Northwest Kansas Educational Service Center policies.
  4. Participate in pre-training and in-service as necessary to meet KSDE, NKESC, and local guidelines.
  5. Prepare requests for materials purchases, duplicating of materials, completing of forms/reports, planning/keeping appointments, and other such duties as determined by supervisor.
  6. Be able to research materials as needed.
  7. Keep own work area clean and neat.
  8. Maintain and adequate filing system so that instructional and assessment materials as well as student files are readily accessible for immediate supervisor.
  9. Keep current with NKESC computer technology to be used for advancement of Interrelated Program, which is used for advancement of Interrelated programs.
  10. Maintain a log of activities as directed to meet local, state, and/or federal guidelines.
  11. Perform any other duties as directed.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES: 

  1. Exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer, to see and read a computer screen and printed materials with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone; and physical agility to reach overhead.
  2. Ability to move between schools, school buildings and multiple rooms.
  3. Ability to interact with students that meets their physical, emotional and psychological needs.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

 Per Memorandum of Employment Agreement.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Executive Director and/or Designee as per board policy.
