USD 287 offers full paid single BC/BS health plan KPERS retirement 10 days of discretionary leave per year accumulating up to 60 leave days sick leave bank is available. Section 125 benefits & 403 (b) plans available. 

Salary will be per negotiated agreement. USD 287 gives full credit for years of teaching experience upon initial placement.

West Franklin Unified School District 287 is comprised of two elementary schools, a middle school and a high school.

The two elementary schools serve Pre-K through grade 5; West Franklin Elementary at Appanoose is located in a rural location 7 miles north of Pomona, while West Franklin Elementary at Williamsburg is located within the city of Williamsburg. West Franklin Middle School, serving grades 6-8 and West Franklin High School are on the same campus and both are located in the city of Pomona.

The West Franklin School District`s Mission is to serve our school community by providing a safe, structured learning environment that develops productive citizens who can persevere through challenges.  While we provide a strong academic focus on reading and math in our curriculum, we are committed to providing a well-rounded education for all students.  Each elementary school (PreK-5) houses a preschool operated by Three Lakes Educational Cooperative and each has strong family support and Parent-Teacher Organizations.  

Students within the district culminate their education at West Franklin Middle School and West Franklin High School.  WFHS provides opportunities for students to engage in a variety of electives including 8 CTE Pathways.  Students at WFMS have the opportunity to participate in 13 extra-curricular activities while students at WFHS may participate in 19 extra-curricular activities, 4 academic organizations, and 3 outside clubs.  WFHS students may also participate in coursework through a variety of academic partners including Neosho County Community College (Ottawa), Washburn Institute of Technology, and Flint Hills Technical College as well as many online opportunities. 

West Franklin USD #287 is the perfect setting for those that enjoy small-town rural life with access to city amenities or lakeside fun. Kansas City, Lawrence, and Topeka are within an hour drive. Pomona, Melvern and Clinton Lakes offer close recreational facilities for those interested in water sports or other outside activities.  For those who would choose to further their educational experience, Emporia State University, Washburn University, Baker University, Ottawa University and the University of Kansas are within an hour of the district.
