Library/Media Specialist - BMS/BHS

USD 244 is seeking a positive, energetic, and student-centered Library/Media Specialist to serve both Burlington Middle School and Burlington High School. Burlington High School enrolls approximately 260 students, with over 90% actively involved in athletics and activities. Each building has around 50 staff members, creating a close-knit environment that fosters professional collaboration, strong support systems, opportunities for growth, and meaningful relationships with students and families.

Successful candidates are expected to:

• Create and maintain a creative, innovative, and inviting library environment for students and staff.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Manage the library collections and circulation systems at both the middle school and high school, with the support of a library clerk.
• Oversee purchasing, cataloging, promoting, circulating, repairing, shelving, inventorying, and weeding of library materials.
• Teach a 5th-grade library skills rotation at the middle school as scheduled.
• Collaborate with teachers to support classroom lessons, research units, and student projects.
• Provide a welcoming and accessible space for students and staff throughout the school day.
• Assist students positively with questions, book selection, printing needs, and minor laptop issues.
• Maintain a strong partnership with the public library to support Interlibrary Loan (ILL) privileges for students and staff.
