Job Summary

The Teacher Apprentice role is designed for individuals pursuing a career in education who are actively enrolled in a teacher preparation program. This position provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the classroom while working under the supervision of a certified teacher. The role supports the development of teaching skills- classroom management strategies- and professional growth in a structured and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist certified teachers with lesson planning- instruction- and classroom management.
  • Provide support to students individually or in small groups to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Lead classroom activities under the guidance and supervision of the mentor teacher.
  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences- staff meetings- and professional development sessions as required.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation related to student progress and classroom activities.
  • Actively engage in reflective practices to improve teaching strategies and student outcomes.
  • Adhere to school policies- procedures- and ethical standards.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Must hold a valid Substitute Teacher License (required).
    • Actively enrolled in an accredited teacher preparation program.
  • Progress Requirements:
    • Demonstrate consistent progress in the teacher preparation program by providing evidence of passing scores each semester.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with students- teachers- and administrators.
    • Willingness to learn and implement new teaching methods.
    • Organized- dependable- and committed to professional growth.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is a plus.
  • Familiarity with classroom technologies and educational tools.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily based in a classroom environment.
  • May require occasional after-school or weekend commitments for meetings or events.
