Elementary School Counselor and/or Social Worker

Oskaloosa USD 341 is seeking to fill the position of Elementary School Counselor and/or Social Worker. 

 This position plays a fundamental role in supporting the academic, social and emotional development of students.

 Duties

1.   Provide individual and group counseling to students.
2.   Provide support and assistance to students and families in crisis and emergency situations.
3.   Conduct assessments to identify students needs and develop appropriate intervention plans.
4.   Collaborate with teachers, parents and other staff to create a supportive learning environment.
5.   Refer students to community based mental health resources as needed.
6.   Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions and student progress in accordance with confidentiality guidelines.
7.   Other duties as assigned by administration.

Qualifications

1.   Masters degree in counseling or Bachelor's degree in social work. 
2.   Experience working with children in a school setting is highly desirable.
3.   Strong skills in behavior management and conflict resolution.
4.   Knowledge of mental health counseling techniques and resources available for students and their families.
