Buhler High School is one of the largest agriculture education departments in Kansas focusing on a very diverse, comprehensive and rigorous curriculum. Buhler FFA is an affiliate FFA chapter so all students are involved in the FFA. The multi-teacher department offers agriculture education classes (7-12) in four different pathways: Animal Systems, Plant Systems, Agricultural Power, Structural & Technical Systems and Comprehensive Ag Science. There is some flexibility in courses taught next school year as enrollment will dictate curricular offerings. Potential classes could include middle school (7th/8th grade Exploratory Agriculture and Into to Ag Science), Ag Science (1st year high school students) and/or a variety of agricultural mechanics classes. We are looking for a candidate with a strong FFA background and interest in fulfilling the threecircle model of classroom/laboratory, FFA and SAE. This position will include an FFA supplemental stipend. Three kindergarten through fifth grade elementary schools include Buhler Grade School, Plum Creek Elementary, and Union Valley Elementary. All students in grades six through eight attend Prairie Hills Middle School, with Buhler High School housing grades nine through twelve. The Burkholder Administrative Center is located in Buhler. The school district employs 352 people; 173 certified teachers and administrators and 179 classified employees, including clerical, food service, transportation, custodial and maintenance. The greater school community of Buhler USD 313 includes the city of Buhler, a portion of suburban Hutchinson, residential tracts and rural farms. Located in the northeast part of Reno County and western Harvey County in south-central Kansas, Buhler USD 313 encompasses 137.7 square miles, and has a total population exceeding 15,000.
