Responsibilities:

As our ELL Teacher, you will:

  • Provide direct English language instruction to students with diverse linguistic backgrounds, utilizing effective research-based methodologies and differentiated strategies.
  • Assess students' English language proficiency levels to inform instruction and monitor progress.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate language development goals into content area instruction, providing support and resources as needed.
  • Develop and implement individualized language support plans (e.g., ELPs) in alignment with state and federal guidelines.
  • Adapt and modify curriculum materials to meet the linguistic and academic needs of ELL students.
  • Foster a culturally responsive classroom environment that values and celebrates students' home languages and cultures.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and program information.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills in the field of English Language Learning.
  • Collaborate with other specialists and support staff to provide comprehensive support to ELL students.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Kansas teaching license with an ESL endorsement.
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience working with English Language Learners in an elementary school setting.
  • Strong understanding of second language acquisition theories and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners.
  • Experience with various assessment tools for English Language Learners.
  • Proficiency in using technology to support instruction and communication.
  • A commitment to creating an equitable and inclusive learning environment.

Salary Information

Salary Information

Based on the Negotiated Agreement salary schedule. Starting first year teacher with a Bachelors Degree is $45,250 for the 2024-2025 school year. Teaching experience will be credited towards movement on the salary schedule.

USD 336, Holton is located 30 miles north of Topeka nestled in the rolling hills of Northeast Kansas. Holton is a classic midwestern community in the center of Jackson County.  We have a student population of approximately 1,200 students.   There are three attendance centers:  Holton Elementary School Pre-K to 5th Grade, Holton Middle School Grades 6- 8, and Holton High School 9-12.  The High School is a 4A school.  The school district is dedicated to continuous school improvement with a caring and supportive environment.
