Responsibilities:

As our Math Interventionist, you will:

  • Provide targeted, small-group and individual math intervention to students who are struggling to meet grade-level standards.
  • Utilize diagnostic assessments and data analysis to identify specific student learning needs and inform intervention strategies.
  • Implement evidence-based intervention programs and strategies to address identified skill gaps in areas such as numeracy, algebra readiness, and problem-solving.
  • Collaborate closely with classroom math teachers to align intervention with core curriculum and provide ongoing communication about student progress.
  • Develop and adapt instructional materials and resources to meet the diverse learning styles and needs of intervention students.
  • Monitor student progress through regular assessments and data collection, adjusting intervention strategies as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and intervention plans.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities focused on math intervention best practices and strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with other support staff, such as counselors and special education teachers, to provide comprehensive support to students.
  • Maintain accurate records of student participation and progress in the intervention program.
  • Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment that builds students' confidence and enthusiasm for mathematics.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Kansas teaching license with an endorsement in mathematics (middle school or secondary) or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience providing math intervention or targeted support to struggling learners.
  • Strong understanding of middle school mathematics curriculum and common learning challenges.
  • Experience with diagnostic math assessments and data-driven instruction.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based math intervention programs and strategies.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt materials to meet individual student needs.
  • Proficiency in using technology to support instruction and data analysis.
  • A commitment to fostering a growth mindset and a positive attitude towards mathematics in all students.

Salary Information

Salary Information

Based on the Negotiated Agreement salary schedule. Starting first year teacher with a Bachelors Degree is $45,250 for the 2024-2025 school year. Teaching experience will be credited towards movement on the salary schedule.

USD 336, Holton is located 30 miles north of Topeka nestled in the rolling hills of Northeast Kansas. Holton is a classic midwestern community in the center of Jackson County.  We have a student population of approximately 1,200 students.   There are three attendance centers:  Holton Elementary School Pre-K to 5th Grade, Holton Middle School Grades 6- 8, and Holton High School 9-12.  The High School is a 4A school.  The school district is dedicated to continuous school improvement with a caring and supportive environment.
