Elementary Crossing Guard

Description:
Crossing guard will assist children on their way to and from school. Provide safe crossing of the roadways and verbally direct students across the street. You can be an important member of USD 490 committed to the safety of our students in our community.

• McCollum N/S
• Country Club E/W

Physical Demands

• Standing and Walking on various surfaces
• Turning/Twisting head and body to observe traffic and children approaching crosswalk.
• Agility/Balance when walking on snow, ice, uneven pavement. Can react and move quickly to avoid vehicles
• Communicate verbally and writing. Speaks clearly to instruct students and other pedestrians. Writing suffeciently to report problems.
• Vision to observe vehicles and pedestrians, read signs, and recognize potentional dangerous traffic situations and environmental hazards such as potholes, ice, sidewalk obstructions.
• Hearing to recognize vehicles approaching from any direction, backup alarms, horns, to hear children and pedestrians speaking in a potentially noisy, distracting environment

Working Conditions:

• Must be able to fullfill job requirements outdoors in all weather, including rain, fog, snow, sleet, cold, heat, humidity, and wind
• Schedule- Monday through Friday
• Hours- 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM & 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM
