AT RISK TEACHER
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Kansas Teaching License
2. Exceptional Education degree or experience preferred.
3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
JOB GOAL: To help "At Risk" students attain their maximum potential in conjunction with the educational programming offered to them.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in the identification of At Risk students;
- Serves as a member of the KANSAS STAR Committee and Multidisciplinary Team when assigned. This may include evaluating educational and emotional needs of the student, recommending appropriate remediation and writing a report for documentation;
- Assists in developing new courses and curriculum as needed in helping At Risk students
- Provides direct instruction to At Risk students related to the areas of social skills training and/or academic subjects as needed;
- Helps coordinate tutoring programs utilizing peer and adult volunteers;
- Consults and serves as resource to parents and other staff relating to At Risk students;
- Assists other school staff in development and implementation of parent and student training programs when appropriate;
- Monitors students’ progress as appropriate;
- Provides coordinated linkages between the student and the school's academic and vocational programs;
- Serves as liaison between At Risk student, school and work supervisor when appropriate. Assists At Risk students with appropriate work related skill development;
- Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required;
- Participates in the Student Assistant Programs and Crisis Intervention Programs as needed;
- Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities within the overall scope of the position which the supervisor may assign.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board Policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
