JOB DESCRIPTION: Sign Language Interpreter provides support to the instructional program with specific responsibilities for interpreting for students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing and their hearing peers; provides voice to sign and sign to voice support; and serves as a resource to other school personnel requiring assistance with students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing (D/HH) as well as adults who are D/HH.

Employer Information Basehor-Linwood Unified School District 458 serves students and families in a 90 square mile area of southern Leavenworth County, Kansas. We currently have 8 district attendance centers. Our Early Learning Center for Childcare and Pre-K opened for the 2020-21 school year in August. K-5 buildings are located in Bonner Springs, Basehor and the Glenwood Ridge subdivision. A new K-5 building, located in Basehor, opened in the Fall 2021. Students in grades 6, 7 and 8 attend Basehor-Linwood Middle School in Basehor, near the center of the district. Basehor-Linwood High School, located in Basehor, is a 5A school, serving students in grades 9 through 12.
BLHS was named a 2012 National Blue Ribbon School. In addition, the district operates Basehor-Linwood Virtual School, an internet-based school serving approximately 250 K-12 students statewide instructed by Basehor-Linwood teachers.
Special Education services are provided by the Tonganoxie/Basehor-Linwood Special Education Cooperative located in Basehor.
