The Special Services Cooperative of Wamego #724 sponsored by USD 320 Wamego has vacancies for an Elementary/Secondary Special Education Teacher for all three school districts in the coop for the 2024-2025 school year.
Applicants should hold or be eligible for a valid Kansas emergency substitute teaching license, have completed at least one year of successful employment as a paraeducator with the coop, and be enrolled and completing coursework in a teacher education program with an accredited university. Successful candidates will work under the direct supervision of a fully licensed and experienced special education teacher/service provider who will serve as the case manager for the students on the transitional teacher's caseload.

REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Special Education Administrator(s)
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work under the direct supervision of a fully licensed and experienced special education teacher/service provider who will serve as the case manager for the students on the transitional teacher's caseload.
- Collaborate with the case manager to carry out specially designed instruction, supplementary aids, and services for special education students with academic and behavioral disabilities
- Prepare lesson plans and provide direct special education services to students
- Create a classroom environment that is positive and conducive to learning
- Develop and implement behavior intervention plans that include positive behavior supports
- Work collaboratively with general education teachers to meet the needs of special education students
- Work collaboratively with other service providers
- Assist general education teachers with curriculum modifications necessary to enable students to participate and make progress in the general education curriculum
- Ensure the implementation of the IEP as written.
- Assess students progress on a regular basis and reports this progress as required.
- Supervise para-educators
- Communicate as necessary with building and district administration
- Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Attend all required staff meetings and professional development activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
