The Special Services Cooperative of Wamego #724 sponsored by USD 320 Wamego has vacancies for an Elementary/Secondary Special Education Teacher for all three school districts in the coop for the 2024-2025 school year. 

 

Applicants should hold or be eligible for a valid Kansas emergency substitute teaching license, have completed at least one year of successful employment as a paraeducator with the coop, and be enrolled and completing coursework in a teacher education program with an accredited university. Successful candidates will work under the direct supervision of a fully licensed and experienced special education teacher/service provider who will serve as the case manager for the students on the transitional teacher's caseload.

POSITION: Transitional Special Education Teacher

REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Special Education Administrator(s)


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Work under the direct supervision of a fully licensed and experienced special education teacher/service provider who will serve as the case manager for the students on the transitional teacher's caseload.
     
  2. Collaborate with the case manager to carry out specially designed instruction, supplementary aids, and services for special education students with academic and behavioral disabilities
     
  3. Prepare lesson plans and provide direct special education services to students
     
  4. Create a classroom environment that is positive and conducive to learning
     
  5. Develop and implement behavior intervention plans that include positive behavior supports
     
  6. Work collaboratively with general education teachers to meet the needs of special education students
     
  7. Work collaboratively with other service providers
     
  8. Assist general education teachers with curriculum modifications necessary to enable students to participate and make progress in the general education curriculum
     
  9. Ensure the implementation of the IEP as written.
     
  10. Assess students progress on a regular basis and reports this progress as required.
     
  11. Supervise para-educators
     
  12. Communicate as necessary with building and district administration
     
  13. Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
     
  14. Attend all required staff meetings and professional development activities.
     
  15. Other duties as assigned.
