TITLE: School Psychologist

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Meets certification requirements as established by the State Department of Education.
  • Approved by the Special Education Section of the State Department.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO:  Executive Director of Special Services

 

JOB GOALS: To assist teacher, administrators, and parents in better understanding the psychological and educational needs of children for the purpose of facilitating learning and total adjustment.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assesses difficulties of referred students through appropriate testing and diagnostic procedures and helps identify all types of exceptional children.
  2. Interprets diagnoses to school personnel, other concerned professionals and parents.
  3. Makes recommendations on ways to facilitate a students learning and total adjustment.
  4. Participates in the decision making process and placement of all types of exceptional children.
  5. Consults with parents, staff members, and mental health professionals.
  6. May conduct short term individual or group therapy for students.
  7. Serves as a resource person in the areas of learning and behavioral psychology.
  8. Acts as liaison between the school and the various community/state mental health agencies.
  9. Maintains clinical file(s) on all referred students.
  10. May conduct appropriate approved research.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten month year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

Vested after five years. Technology District provided devices - iPads, laptop and/or desktop for certified staff. Paid collaboration time
