Occupational Therapist: 2026-2027 School Year

To prevent or minimize the effects of disabilities in fine motor and perceptual motor skills, sensory integration functioning, self-care skills, and focusing and attention skills which may interfere with the students educational program.

QUALIFICATIONS:  

• Kansas licensure with endorsements in the specialty area required. 
• Degree from an accredited college or university.  
• Knowledge of occupational therapy techniques that meet the diverse needs of students.  
• All USD 383 employees must pass a background check.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1. Develops and maintains an occupational therapy environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the district.  
2. Employs a variety of techniques to meet the needs and capabilities of students.
3. Strives to implement by instruction and action the districts philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives. 
4. Guides students in maintaining acceptable standards of classroom behavior.   
5. Demonstrates strategies and techniques that are responsive to the cultural, ethnic, economic, and linguistic differences of students. 
6. Conduct evaluations to determine qualification for occupational therapy services and to make recommendations. 
7. Evaluates student progress on a continual basis and reports at designated times.  
8. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
9. Provide direct, indirect, and consultation services as prescribed by individual student plans.  
10. Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.  
11. Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for educationally related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.  
12. Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning progress of all assigned students.  
13. Cooperates with other members of staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.  
14. Other duties as assigned by administration.

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board of Educations policy on evaluation of certified personnel.
