To prevent or minimize the effects of disabilities in fine motor and perceptual motor skills, sensory integration functioning, self-care skills, and focusing and attention skills which may interfere with the students educational program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Kansas licensure with endorsements in the specialty area required.
- Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Knowledge of occupational therapy techniques that meet the diverse needs of students.
- All USD 383 employees must pass a background check.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops and maintains an occupational therapy environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the district.
- Employs a variety of techniques to meet the needs and capabilities of students.
- Strives to implement by instruction and action the districts philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
- Guides students in maintaining acceptable standards of classroom behavior.
- Demonstrates strategies and techniques that are responsive to the cultural, ethnic, economic, and linguistic differences of students.
- Conduct evaluations to determine qualification for occupational therapy services and to make recommendations.
- Evaluates student progress on a continual basis and reports at designated times.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Provide direct, indirect, and consultation services as prescribed by individual student plans.
- Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.
- Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for educationally related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
- Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning progress of all assigned students.
- Cooperates with other members of staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
- Other duties as assigned by administration.
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board of Educations policy on evaluation of certified personnel.
