This position is responsible for assisting in the maintenance and configuration of technology networking equipment, connections, and software for ManhattanOgden USD 383. 

LOCATION: Lincoln Education Center 

QUALIFICATIONS Preferred:  

  1. Bachelor or Associates degree in Computer Science or Networking.  
  2. Experience with both physical and virtual network administration and architecture.  
  3. Demonstrated ability to design and maintain data security and disaster recovery strategies.  
  4. Having attained certifications of Network + and/or Cisco CCNA (or comparable). 
  5. Be able to climb a ladder to a height of eight feet. 
  6. Be able to lift 20 lb. objects.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  1. Maintain and optimize the performance of a Cisco switch and wireless infrastructure. 
  2. Understand how to implement and gather information from Cisco products such as DNA-C, and ISE as well as other equipment such as 9800 wireless controller switches. 
  3. Support telephony in an IP and analog environment as well as maintenance of core district telephone systems.  
  4. Have a working knowledge of fiber connectivity in both a Wide Area Network (WAN) as well as building level connections. 
  5. Have knowledge of the installation and configuration for the physical layout of a computer network for a building, including wiring schemes of telephone, data, wireless, etc. systems. 
  6. Assist in addressing the security aspects of Information Technology systems by implementing and managing the necessary firewalls, filters, etc. 
  7. Implement and maintain network security and segmentation using VLANs, Access Control Lists (ACL), etc.  
  8. Understand how to implement security systems (e.g., security cameras) for networks as well as physical protection of district information and assets. 
  9. Support Information Technology staff in the management of network protocols. (DNS, DHCP, etc.).  
  10. Able to show proper documentation to IT and other staff members about networking projects that are being completed within the district. 
  11. Provide evidence of ability to communicate and explain networking information to staff with various experience of technology as well as providing technology leadership information to share with district staff to keep them informed of operational changes and functionality aspects of the network.  
  12. Collaborate with networking staff on developing and implementing a systematic review and assessment of the districts cybersecurity systems and their effectiveness in meeting the district goals. 
  13. Understand, maintain and adjust to improve the performance, through upgrades and patch management, as well as the operation of onsite and cloud WAN and LAN infrastructure. 
  14. Be able to support backups as well as disaster recovery plans for all network, hardware, and software systems of the district.  
  15. Assist in developing and reviewing bid specifications to ensure compliance with bid requirements.  
  16. Performs all other tasks and assumes other duties as assigned.

FLSA STATUS: Exempt  

 

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board of Educations policy on evaluation of certified personnel.

RETIREMENT:  

  • USD 383 makes monthly contributions to a 403(b)-retirement account for all certified and eligible employees.  
  • KPERS (Kansas Public Employees Retirement System): 6% monthly staff contribution. Vested after five years.  

TECHNOLOGY:   

  • District provided devices - iPad, laptop, and/or desktop for certified staff.   

PAID COLLABORATION TIME. 

Salary Information

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  

  • 12-month contract.  
  • Compensation and work year as established by the Board.
