Audiologist Part Time

QUALIFICATIONS:  
1. Licensed through the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services.
2. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board of education may find
appropriate and acceptable.
 
REPORTS TO:  DIRECTOR OF SPECIAL EDUCATION
 
JOB GOAL:  To deliver a full spectrum of hearing services to all children.
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
1.      Assists and guides teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and
identified hearing impairments.
2.      Provides a thorough assessment and diagnosis of hearing impairments.
3.      Provides screening to identify hearing impaired children at regular intervals and at
specified levels.
4.      Assists in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community
as appropriate.
5.      Provides appropriate individualized programs of therapy to meet individual students
needs and correct existing hearing handicaps.
6.      Collaborates with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement
therapy by suggestions for the students daily activities.
7.      Provides information, support, and counseling to parents and families when
appropriate.
8.      Provides professional development and serves as a consultant to teachers and school
staff members on topics concerning hearing improvement.
9.      Keeps thorough ongoing records for the individual student receiving therapy or other
school provided hearing services.
10.    Maintains lists of referred, screened, and eligible students, as well as a directory of
outside agencies, consultants, specialists, and related services.
11.    Assumes primary responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining needed equipment
supplies.
12.    Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
 
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Salary and length of contract to be established by the board of
education.
 
EVALUATION:  Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the
boards policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
 
Ability to use audiometric equipment
Ability to identify hearing impaired children
Skills in rehabilitation of hearing impaired children
