QUALIFICATIONS: A license in occupational therapy with a current Kansas license. REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education JOB GOAL: The position of Occupational Therapists purpose/s is to assess students' physical development level and provide appropriate treatment to meet individualized student objectives. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer evaluations for students to determine eligibility and recommendations for treatment needs related to their educational setting with regard to: perceptual-motor, hand functions, motor coordination, sensory development, muscle strength, etc.
- Conduct developmental screenings as needed.
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Provide direct and/or indirect occupational therapy services to students who qualify for an Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) or an Individual Education Plan (IEP) for the purpose of developing students daily living skills.
- Develop treatment plans, interventions and/education materials from the IEP for the purpose of remediating students motor skill deficits and ensuring compliance with regulatory compliance.
- Documents all students records in a timely manner, including Medicaid billing and maintenance of files (progress reports, activity logs, treatment plans, evaluation, reports, etc).
- May direct the work of assigned COTAs and Education Assistants for the purpose of providing guidance and ensuring that program objectives are achieved.
- Participates in district wide work and professional days.
- Maintains appropriate professional standards of confidentiality and care.
- Researches resources and methods (i.e. intervention and treatment techniques, assessment tools and methods, community resources, etc.) for the purpose of determining the appropriate approach for addressing students functional goals.
- Interprets medical and academic reports for the purpose of developing appropriate treatment/intervention plans.
- Must be able to adapt to changing work priorities, meet deadlines and schedules, work with detailed information/data and translate therapy data into meaningful educational activities.
- Follows policy and procedures as outlined in the therapy policy and procedures and Kansas state board of healing arts.
- Participates in a variety of meetings (e.g. training, workshops, seminars, IEPs, team meetings, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information.
- Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as deemed necessary
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and length of contract to be established by the board of education. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the boards policy on evaluation of professional personnel. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB: The Occupational Therapists goal is to develop, maintain and restore maximum movement and functional ability, in order to maximize quality of life.
