REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education and Building Principal
JOB GOAL: To provide support to hearing impaired students in academics, interpersonal skills and activities of daily living.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administers a variety of evaluative tools for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and developing individual learning plans.
- Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents, and administration.
- Collaborates with parents, instructional staff, and other school personnel for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes and achieving established classroom objectives in support of the student IEPs.
- Coordinates care for hearing impaired students for the purpose of addressing the needs of individual students and ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
- Differentiates curriculum for the purpose of providing students with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans.
- Directs and evaluates interpreters for the purpose of providing an effective school program and addressing the needs of individual students in carrying out the IEP.
- Informs parents and legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations, students achievements, developing methods for improvement, and reinforcing individual planning goals.
- Monitors students in a variety of educational environments for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding student and staff information in order to remain in compliance with legal requirements and to maintain a professional work environment.
- Participates in a variety of meetings for the purpose of conveying and gathering information required to perform functions.
- Prepares a variety of written materials for the purpose of communicating information to other parties.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and length of contract to be established by the board of education.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the boards policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
