Douglass USD 396 is seeking an Interim High School Social Studies Teacher for the 2025-2026 academic year. This one-year position offers an exciting opportunity to engage students in a small classroom setting in a meaningful exploration government and American history. Coaching possibilities for wrestling and track are available but not required.

Responsibilities:
 

  1. Teach small classes courses such as American History and Government
  2. Develop and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons that promote critical thinking and inquiry.
  3. Assess student learning through a variety of formative and summative methods.
  4. Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports all learners.
  5. Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administration to ensure student success.
  6. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and guardians.
  7. Fulfill all duties and responsibilities required of a classroom teacher in the district.

Qualifications:
 

  1. Kansas teaching license (or ability to obtain licensure) with appropriate endorsement(s) 
  2. Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
  3. Ability to foster a supportive and respectful learning environment.

Salary Information

Base rate of $48,000 with increases based on education and experience levels. Teaching post retirement salaries will be negotiated.
