Douglass High School is accepting applications for an HS Counselor to support students with social and emotional difficulties with the classroom learning environment and individual student’s academic progress for grades 9th-12th. A current Kansas teaching license with an endorsement of a school counselor or equivalent is required. This candidate would support individual students and small groups of students who need consistent counseling. The candidate`s duties would include, but not limited to:

  1. Assist in the registration and enrollment of students
    Work with administration, classroom teachers, and special education teachers to support students with behavior plans
  2. Assist administration in interpreting achievement data and in identifying the possible need for curricular or instructional revisions
  3. Write and monitor intervention plans
  4. Conduct counseling in private and/or groups as appropriate
  5. Assists parents in making contacts with needed resources
  6. Work with and make referrals to other professionals or agencies when necessary
  7. Facilitate college readiness and credit tracking/recovery
  8. Coordinate scholarships and college visits
  9. Coordinate and manage HS Academic Spirit Activities
  10. Aid in supporting truant students
  11. Participates in school improvement efforts
  12. Manage enrollment and data of virtual students alongside the district’s virtual stakeholders
  13. Provide opportunities for students to gain information from individuals and organizations representing career groups

Salary Information

Based on 2024-25 Negotiated Agreement and Salary Formula. Base rate of $48,000
